Wouldn’t it be great if a house contained no appliances, just places where disorderly items were placed for orderly activities and conditions to occur. A chilled cupboard to replace a fridge. A dirty clothes bin for with corresponding adjacent bin where folded clean clothes will be stacked from the cleaning bin.
Obviously I have to clean the house and would rather not. That admission notwithstanding, appliances are boring and unnecessary clutter. All we want are the actions they provide, not all of their boring baggage.
